Virtual Museums: Just Click on a Name (2000)
New York Times, Sunday, Oct 1, 2000. Letter of comment.
You list many web sites operated by museums across the country, but as Mr. Davis states correctly in his article, on the Internet, "The clicking and leaping required to see a single painting rivals standing in the Mona Lisa line."
That is why a friend and I created a site (http ://newcrit.art.wmich.edu/) supported by our institutions, Western Michigan University and the University of Miami. Our site has a page of clearly described hyperlinked sites, which have images alphabetically listed by artists' names (go to Links: Image Sites). We think it will get you to most of the worthwhile art on the web quicker and easier than anything else out there.
The Times added: "The writer is a Professor of painting at the University of Miami in Coral Gables."
